Romancing the Jock - The Love of the Game

September Post: Love of the Game

Bust out the pompoms and airhorns!
It’s football season!
And basketball season is right around the corner.
However, those games I’m looking forward to most have my own little athletes on the gridiron, on the court, and on the sidelines. **continue reading on

August Post: Heroes or Villains?

It’s very sad that every time we, as fans of all sports, turn around we’re witnessing our “heroes” participating in quite villainous activity. **continue reading on

June Post: Sportscasters and Athletes: Walking a Fine Line

Having worked in television news I learned very quickly all about the fine line between getting the story and pissing people off. Sportscasters need to cover the black for 8-10 minutes of every newscast and athletes, like it or not, are the focus of their stories. **continue reading on

May Post: You get what you pay for... Or do you?

You’ve heard the old adage: You get what you pay for, but I’m not so sure. Sports teams pay big bucks to get the right players, certain all those dollar signs will ensure a winning season. Except nothing is certain. Nothing. **continue reading on

April Post: Cheerleaders vs the NFL

Over the course of the last few months, cheerleaders from the Oakland Raiders and the Cincinnati Bengals have sued their teams for unfair wage practices.**continue reading on

March Post: History of March Madness
March Madness crowns the NCAA’s best of the best and the journey is anticipated by players, coaches and fans alike. Here in the Kearns household, we are counting down the days. I’d make a paper chain of maroon and gold if my children hadn’t threatened to disown if I did. **continue reading on

February's Post: Kerrigan Attack Anniversary
Many stories will be forever engrained in my memory; the bombing in Oklahoma City, the shootings at Columbine, 9-11 (of course). But among those memories is the attack on Nancy Kerrigan at the Lillehammer Olympics. This year marks the 20th Anniversary of that attack. **continue reading on

January's Post: Favorite 2013 Sports Moments
It’s time to say goodbye to 2013 and the amazing events that thrilled us, chilled us and had us wanting to chuck the TV through the wall. Some of my favorites included: **continue reading on

December's Post: Fact or Fiction: No Bad Publicity?
“Any publicity is good publicity.” We’ve all heard the saying, but is it really true? **continue reading on

November's Post: Athlete. BadAss. Are the two synonymous?
Badasses come in all shapes and sizes. Riding motorcycles, strapping on bulletproof vests, wearing camo in the desert or sporting a body’s worth of tattoos, yeah…those all apply. But athletes are in a class all their own. **continue reading on

October's Post: Utah Coach Suspends Entire Team
Athletes are rock stars. Whether they want to be or not. Kids and adults alike cheer for them when the clock is running—and adore them after the buzzer sounds. Kids playing high school sports aren’t immune. Other students look up to these guys and gals, and they have a duty to live up to that honor. **continue reading on

September's Post: Win or Lose, it's all about the attitude.
As a mother I’ve tried to instill in my kids the importance of a good attitude. Good sportsmanship, if you will. I’ve often wondered is it easier to have good sportsmanship when the game’s going well or when it’s…not? **continue reading on

#TeamKearns in #Vegas 2014

Karen Cino & I

 Every booksigning is awesome!

I LOVE seeing old friends, meeting new ones,

Allie K Adams & I

FINALLY meeting those friends face to face,

and hugging members of #TeamKearns! Not to mention signing books for all of the above.

But this particular trip to the Romance Novel Convention Book Fair (#RNCVegas2014) was amazingly sweet because I was able to take my husband along.

Because of our four fairly young kids, we usually have to tag-team the out of town thing. This July, though, we capitalized on our anniversary and birthdays and RNC becoming the perfect storm and hit Vegas!

My favorite part of the event was the quick camaraderie between Ryan Diaz and Gavin Matthew and my husband.

The three acted like life long buddies and laughed and teased throughout the afternoon, until Rhonda and I were in stitches.

A BIG THANKS to Ryan Diaz aka Enrique "Ricky" Santiago from Lucky 13. Yes, he's reading "himself"...The Condom Scene. Bwahahaha!

...and Gavin Matthew, who will become the face of Mason James (as soon as we talk him into losing the beard *wink*)

and Rhonda Plumhoff, President Extraordinaire for adding to the awesomeness of the weekend!!!

Let's do it again very soon!

Like February?

Hard Break is now in Audio

Seeing my book in print is always exciting.

Seeing Fade to Black for the very first time was beyond awesome.

But I have to admit to that being trumped by hearing Hard Break read by a professional narrator.

Tim Campbell captured the characters perfectly, giving life to my friends.
