As I typed the words "I hate sick kids" into my facebook status, I hit the backspace button and opened up blogger. Those four little words, typed in that order, reminded me of the age old problem. Writing is all about wording and commas and getting the point across in the way the author intended.
No, I do not hate sick kids. I do, however, hate when my kids are sick. "Mom, I threw up all over my bed," whispered by my 8yo son at 2:30 in the morning are words I most certainly hate. Actually, I loathe them! After returning to bed at 3:30, after disinfecting his bedroom, I never got back into a nice, deep sleep.
So call it insanity, insomnia, or blathering idiocy, I needed rant a bit, and clarify myself...to myself.
Rest assured, I do not hate sick kids. In fact, I love my children always--even when they're sick. What I do hate is the stomach bug currently plaguing my family!
Anybody got the name of a good exterminator?
On a better note: I was able to contribute 1500 words to my current WIP today! Favorite line:
“I’m not hard. I mean, it’s not hard.” He shook his head and felt heat rise in his cheeks at her giggle. “No, thanks. I can handle it.”
Poor baby. Gotta hate those days and nights were our kids are sick. My son almost always misses the bowl. So I understand your pain. Hope he gets better soon. BTW I understood what you meant.
ReplyDeleteMy 8 year old got sick at 6 A.M. that same day. I got the shocking wake-up call announcing I threw-up 4 times. Not the kind of words you want to hear that early in the morning. I had to get up at 7 A.M. so needless to say I didn't get to go back to bed....lol. I so feel your "pain" when it comes to those pesky flu/cold bugs. Sick kids are never fun to deal with....LMAO.
