Cover Reveal of The Break-up Artist by Nichole Severn

Coming on APRIL 23rd, a new novella from
Author, Nichole Severn and Beyond the Page Publishing!

Demi Shepherd is going to jail.

As a professional heartbreaker, she’s been charged with the murder of one of her clients. She can’t explain how fifty thousand dollars ended up in her bank account, how her
fingerprints were found on the murder weapon and who called in an anonymous tip labeling her as the murderer. Determined to clear her name and find out who uprooted her life, Demi goes on the run and turns to the least likely of allies: the man she believes set her up for murder.

Jack Austin is Demi’s only chance of clearing her name, but as an undercover organized crime agent, whose only goal is to bring down the organization laundering money through one of Vegas’ casinos, he’s not willing to risk his life or career for her. That is until Demi shows her innocence.

With former clients and victims on her trail and unknown shooters finding her every step of the way, Demi fights for her life and her damaged heart, but will Jack protect either?

Who is Nichole Severn?

Originally from Las Vegas, Nevada where she spent most days at her grandmother’s house watching X-Men, Married with Children and The Simpsons, Nichole Severn migrated to the Salt Lake City valley to live life as scandalous romance author. She graduated with a degree in psychology from Utah Valley University, which stemmed from her obsession with serial killers, and received her bachelors in English Literature from Nevada State. Over the years, she’s experimented with selling jewelry, insurance, and clothing, but now she just sells books. The serial killer obsession has toned down…a little. She resides with her very supportive and patient, husband in Utah, where she constantly injures herself running, rock climbing, and snowboarding.

Nichole can be contacted through her website at www.nicholesevern.com, email at nichole@nicholesevern.com, Twitter at @nicholesevern or Facebook.

What Reviewers are saying about LUCKY 13!

(Deadlines & Diamonds, #4)
is ON SALE NOW
and reviewers are loving it!

  • Sometimes a reader is lucky enough to find a new author and fall in love with her books. And that's precisely what happened when I per chance bought Lucky 13! I'm actually rather picky about my romance reads as it is both the genre I write in and prefer to read. Morgan delivered and pulled me into her story from the start...
  • This series just keeps getting better and better with every book Morgan Kearns writes.
  • Awesome, awesome, awesome!
  • Male perfection has a name...Enrique Santiago
  • Morgan is a wonderful storyteller, with stories that are touching, realistic, suspenseful, romantic, funny, and more. Everything you could want in a great book/series. Lucky 13 is my new favorite in the series. All I can say is... Bring on book 5!

Six Sentence Sunday (9/18)

This week's Six Sentences come
from my Contemporary Romance,

Sportscaster Jane Alexander is sitting in a bar at the airport,
waiting for her flight. When her purse moves off the stool next to her,
she reaches out to rescue it from the would-be thief and...

...a warm hand covered hers. She looked up into eyes that were way too familiar.
"Grayson," she breathed.
He looked better than she'd ever seen him, dressed in black Armani with a starched white shirt underneath. The first couple of buttons were opened, exposing the tanned flesh of his throat. She gulped.

Six Sentence Sunday (8/28)

Today's Six Sentences come from my Contemporary Romance
In It To Win It
currently available on Kindle, Nook, other ebook

Closing her eyes and sucking in a deep breath, she reminded herself that Grayson Pierce and his opinions no longer mattered. That hell called high school had been fifteen years ago. But she’d be damned if those scars didn’t take eons to heal.
“…and a home run by Pierce brings in three! Rockets win by two.”
Cheers and applause erupted, nearly shaking the walls of the stadium. The enthusiasm was enough to make Jane want to vomit.

Sweet Saturday Samples (8/27)

Today's Sweet Saturday Samples features
a deletable taste of my Contemporary Romance
In It To Win It
currently available on Kindle, Nook, other ebook

Grayson finally made his way to stand before her. Those shoulders of his were even broader than she remembered—his body more toned with a wider chest, a narrower waist and more powerful thighs. The boy she’d known had become a delicious man. His dark hair was in a sweaty disarray, his cap having been removed, a dark curl rested against the tanned skin of his forehead.
He was sporting a goatee these days, trimmed close to his face, probably to hide the thin scar that she’d given him junior year. It was only fair; heaven knew that she wore enough scars from him. Hers were emotional—and still raw.
His heated gaze slowly roamed from her pink-painted toes to her face. Those perfect lips of his formed a smirk and her knees nearly gave out.
He stuck out his hand. “Hi. Grayson Pierce.”
Wow!
Of all the reactions he could have had to seeing her after so many years that was by far the last one Jane would have expected. It hurt—an honest to goodness dagger to the heart—that there was no recognition in his dark brown eyes.
She glanced down at his hand, but didn’t take it. She forced herself to make eye contact as she said, “Jane Alexander, KHB, can I get a comment on the win?”
His grin widened and he shouted, jabbing his fists into the air, “Rockets—all the way to the Series!” He winked at her. “And you can quote me on that.”

She really shouldn’t.

She knew she shouldn’t call Grayson.
More to the point, she knew she shouldn’t want to call Grayson. But she did. And as she dialed the number he’d provided, her heart thumped wildly in her chest and her fingers shook. She ended up having to dial the number three times before she got all ten digits punched in the correct order.
“’Lo?”
“Grayson?” she asked, suddenly afraid he’d given her the wrong number. Wouldn’t that be a great joke?
“Jane!”
Nope, she had the right number.
“I’m so glad you called.”
“Thank you for the flowers.” Her voice sounded distant, and she was grateful to pull off the nonchalance—even if she was shaking like she’d been dumped out of a blender’s frappe cycle.
“Tulips are still your favorite, right?”
Suddenly she couldn’t breathe. Her chest felt tight and her eyes stung. He’d remembered her favorite flower. That was so sweet. So very, very sweet.
“Jane, you still there?”
“Yeah. I’m here.”
Her thoughts tumbled around in her head and she couldn’t manage to hold on to one for longer than a moment before another swooped in and assaulted her. Grayson made no sense; one moment he was flirty and handsome and remembering her favorite flower, the next he was aloof and almost cruel.
“I can’t do this.” She’d meant to only think the words and didn’t realize she’d spoken them until he responded.
“Can’t do what?”
Crap. She was glad when that word stayed in her head.
“This.” Her hand waved between her and the thin air where she imagined he’d be standing if this conversation were happening in person. “Grayson, I appreciate the flowers. They’re very pretty. But I need you to stop contacting me.”
“Why?” He sounded genuinely confused and that infuriated her.
Why? Come on, Grayson. This back and forth is giving me whiplash. I can’t do it anymore. Okay? My heart can’t do it anymore.”

Six Sentence Sunday (8/14)

Today's six sentences come from my Contemporary Romance
Fade to Black
currently available via Kindle, Nook, other e-book

“Well, what’s our story?”

“Hundred-year-old woman with nine cats,” Kate groaned, already feeling defeated.

“When we’re done, it’ll be so good, they’ll want to lead with it.”

Kate wished she could be as confident as her photographer. She raised an eyebrow. “Not even you’re that good, Rich.”

Sweet Saturday Samples (7/30)

For my Sweet Saturday Sample this week,
I'm offering a taste of my Contemporary Romance, Fade to Black.

As they pulled up to the scene, the police were setting up their command center. Kate didn’t even wait for him before she headed into the throng of people.
Rich shouldn’t have been surprised. This was how Kate Callahan rolled. He’d watched her since she burst onto the scene two years ago. Thought she was beautiful then, but she was all business. Never took the time to get chummy with anyone but her sources. So, of course, she beelined it for the sheriff.
“What can you tell me?” she asked, gripping her pen for his response.
“Press conference in ten minutes, Kate.”
“Oh, come on, Reggie.” She was right on his heels as he started walking away. “I’m sure there’s something you can give me now,” she pressed.
He stopped, turned with a dramatic roll of his eyes, then smiled. “Kate.” He tsked his tongue, then whispered, “The mother thinks that the father took little Mary out of her bedroom sometime early this morning. He was just released from prison two weeks ago.”
Kate gasped, but didn’t react further as she jotted down some notes. “Did she have a restraining order against him?”
     “Yes,” he verified.
“Damn,” she muttered and made more notes.
“Well, I’ve got to get the PIO ready for the press conference.” He pulled a flyer off his clipboard and handed it to her. “You didn’t get this from me.” He winked and headed in the direction of the Public Information Officer.
“Thanks, Reggie.” Kate turned on her heel and smacked right into Rich’s chest.  “Oh, sorry.”
Rich chuckled and stole the chance to run his fingers through her silky, soft hair. “Now who’s apologizing?”
She slapped at his chest, her face turned from playful to serious in a flash. “Is the live truck here?” He nodded and motioned over her shoulder to where the microwave signal was being sent to the mountain. “Good.” She pulled her phone out of her pocket, pressed some buttons and put it to her ear. “Dale…yes…. Press Conference is in five, but I’d like to cut in now…. Okay.” She closed the phone and looked at Rich. “Let’s get a move on, Spencer, we go live in two.”

Now to the good stuff...
and I'm gonna leave speakin' "pirate" to Captain Jack, if you don't mind.

*clears throat*

Okay, so ... rubies.

Of all the stones I’ve always been drawn to rubies;
getting my first genuine pair of earrings for my 13th birthday.

Yes, I’ve had them for a lot of years
(we'll not be discussing how many);
and still treasure them.

Rubies are notoriously conspicuous in every pirate’s booty
and every damsel’s cleavage.
But its usually the blood red brethren that get the attention.
Rubies, in fact, come in a variety of shades; from light pink to dark red.

They are a very hard stone.
Measuring a 9 on the Mohs scale, the ruby is second (third actually)
in hardness to diamonds and moissanite.

Genuine rubies are truly a prize…

…as are the gems that can be found between the covers of my favorite books.

Jamie Fraser on pg 414 of Outlander by Diana Gabaldon -

"...I said 'Lord, if I've never had courage in my life before, let me have it now. Let me be brave enough not to fall on my knees and beg her to stay'."

Xhex consoling John on pg 300 of Lover Mine by J.R. Ward -

"No, you've got it all wrong, John." Reading his emotions, she shook her head. "You're not half the male you could be because of what was done to you. You're twice what anyone else is because you survived."

Ryodan speaking with Mac on pg 211 of ShadowFever
by Karen Marie Moning -

“Most people are good and occasionally do something they know is bad. Some people are bad and struggle every day to keep it under control. Others are corrupt to the core and don't give a damn, as long as they don't get caught. But evil is a completely different creature, Mac. Evil is bad that believes it's good."

Lula giving tips to Stephanie on pg 225 of Sizzling Sixteen
by Janet Evanovich -

"There's four ways to manage stress," Lula said to me. "There's drugs, there's alcohol, there's sex, and there's doughnuts. I go with sex and doughnuts. I tried the other two and it wasn't any good. You being in a dry spell, you might have to rely on doughnuts."

There are even a few nuggets within the covers of my own novels. My favorite coming from Fade to Black.

Nate Hughes, best friend extraordinaire, classifying Rich's wife -

"A nuclear waste dump is less toxic than that woman.”

Who am I?

I am Morgan Kearns, author of Fade to Black and In It To Win It.

Welcome to:
Swing for the Fence!

Welcome Home!

In honor of my new book, In It To Win It,
my party is centered around
America's favorite pasttime.

Did you know that the first baseball game ever played
in the United States took place in 1791?
Don't feel bad, I didn't either.
It took place in Pittsfield, Massachutes.
However it wasn't until 1845 that the first team
(the New York Knickerbockers) was formed.

Baseball has grown and now is played all over the country
--all over the world.
If I had to pick a favorite team, I would go with
my Arizona Diamondbacks!
When the team came to Arizona in 1998,
I was working for one of the local television stations
and it was huge news!
Opening day we had crews all over the stadium,
delivering live-shots, and bringing the experience home
to those not lucky enough to be sitting in the seats.
And when they took the World Series in 2001...
I watched every pitch!

IN IT TO WIN IT is my new contemporary romance.
Take one saucy sportscaster,
add baseball’s notorious bad-boy,
throw in fifteen years of frenzied feelings
and an exclusive interview with strings attached ...
and you get a reunion that’s sure

to get knocked out of the park!
Strike OneThe girl once known as ‘Plain Jane’ Alexander is now the woman who makes men stop and take notice of her long legs and voluptuous feminine curves. Fifteen years ago she drove away from her small town determined to never look back … and to hate Grayson Pierce forever.

Strike Two

Grayson Pierce is a baseball playing, fast car driving, loose woman dating, expensive liquor drinking jerk. He’s also the guy that ripped Jane’s heart out and beat it with a meat cleaver in front of their entire high school.

Strike Three
When fate—and an offer for an exclusive interview—bring Jane home, she finds that some things aren’t as they appear. And Grayson proves that he is In It To Win It; her trust, her heart, and a World Series title.

About the author

After working in the news industry for nearly 10 years, I took that knowledge of a working newsroom and applied it into a work of fiction. My books are full of surprises as well as humor amongst the dramatics. I live in Northern Arizona with my family.
